Bellicose Band Logo

The Bellicose band logo concept originated as a joke made by one of the band members during our discovery meeting.  As we discussed the origin of the band's name and imagery that they associated with their music, I doodled aimlessly on a sketch pad.  As an inside joke, the singer/lead guiitar suggested we try an owl.  Looking at my quick tongue-in-cheek sketch, we agreed that it "looked kind of cool," and I added it to my list of things to try.

The final execution pulled me back to my roots as a kid walking around with a sketch pad.  Instead of the polished computer-assisted artwork, I created a pencil illustration using a variety of reference photography.  One completed, the image was pulled into design software to create the finished product.
